The AP-981 leverages a magneto-electric design comprising a magnetic-resistive sensor, permanent magnet, and DC amplifier plus voltage regulation. It transforms magnetic flux changes—generated by gear tooth rotations—into clean square-wave signals. This makes it effective for capturing engine speed seamlessly, even in harsh conditions like chemical exposure.

With its integrated signal cable, it’s designed for quick and reliable connection to tachometer systems without additional wiring. The non-contact nature eliminates wear and enhances safety. Plus, its IPX7-rated protection ensures consistent operation even when exposed to moisture or corrosive vapors.
